and so the course ended, a culmination of 11 weeks of late night plannings n suppers, critical terrains key terrains compellings and obligings, talc, talc n more talc, markers that made one go on a ultimate high after smelling it for 10 hours, and not to mention ever so often get fat sessions in form of tea breaks n delicious cook house(!) lunches n dinners, it all ended with today's graduation ceremony n the debrief/mass interview session. next week will jus be a 2 day command effectiveness programme...
had a great time during this course, particularly enjoyable during ctc absolutely great team spirit then,, haha... AIOC was cool too, but guess not much time spent on the bonding portion, less suppers, less corridor talk n less crapping sessions, haha but otherwise, there was still the fun n laughter evident in every syndicate. haha really cannot believe its all over, as Commander AOAS said, the easy part is over, we've learnt abt taking a company on missions, now comes the challenging part of learning to LEAD the men, the portion of learning that will take place mostly on the job.
had another surprise this week, got news from CMPB abt a certain ATA board for SAF, appears they actuallys till remembered me abt signing on. but at such a late period of time, jus barely 99 days left to ord, do i still wanna sign on? im not really looking for the monetary rewards the scholarship gives for the duration of the study, but i'm more concerned abt the career n my future advancement, and lastly, do i really like living this life 24/7 for the next 25 yrs of my life?? i really began to have doubts abt the liking part, n also not to mention knowing advancement in saf actaully depends to a certain extent on the degree of scholarship that is given to the person in questions... how likely will i be able to rise? not that rank is all that important, but i do not want to hetak kaki at the same spot or position for too long a time too... it'll jus burn out my drive... i jus told them i'm interested in the award, they'll put up a interview board for me, but till then, my mind will be rid of all these thoughts, let the ns experience make my mind...
but soemthing a foreign officer that took the course with me mentioned particularly inspired me alot, can't remember the exact words, but goes something like this:
at the end of the day, the air boys will bomb and strafe the ground, the navy will pound the hills bare, the artillery will land in awesome barrages. but it'll take 1 brave man. a green person in webbing, with a helmet and a weapon in his hand, dirty, muddied, tired, battle fatigued as he is, he will be the one that plants that flag on the ground, he will stake it as his own. he is the infantry soldier.
edited it alot, think i've added n minus a lot of the words, but its so true, regardless of the technology n the amt of firepower we can bring to bear down on any ground, it'll take the infantry soldiers to physically plant that flag on the ground before its actually declared ours. hope this inspires some of our NSFs n some NSmen to believe in our ns system.. haha read abt the six days war that erupted in 1967 in israel, but i'll leave that to another day.
good news, get to clear leave, bad news, i need to clear my ippt fast in order to secure my PROMOTION .
